Pretty Perpetual Sunshine

One of the main things that made me hesitate about attending Thacher was the idea of leaving my favorite Chicago winters to come out to constant Ojai summers. Don’t get me wrong, I love a sunny day just as much as the next person, but something about leaving the snow and sleet and ice behind was hard for me. This week, though, I realized what a smart call it was to come to SoCal. While a blizzard hits the Midwest, and my best friend from home can’t get out of her front door there is so much snow, I go to classes in a dress, play in a soccer game outside in the sun, and wear a sweatshirt and flipflops to musical rehearsal at 9:00 at night. Many of my friends from home tried to make me jealous of their snow days, but nothing cheers me up quite like a sunny, 75-degree day. I think those Chicagoans would agree with me, too.
