Kara works in the College Counseling Office and serves as a dorm head for The Hill, where she also advises. She has coached girls’ varsity soccer and coaches girls’ jv lacrosse, making use of her experience as a captain and four-year letter winner in both sports at Colby College. Before Thacher, Kara taught and coached for five years at Texas Military Institute in San Antonio, where she launched the girls’ varsity soccer program. She also is the faculty advisor for the Literary Society and Thacher’s Composting Program.
She has come to love Thacher’s Outdoor Program, which has led her and the students to new vistas in Yosemite National Park and closer to home in the Matilija Wilderness. She lives on campus with her husband, Jeff, their dog, Cypress, and their two sons.
