What a wonderful way to start the day…

So, the photo’s not that great, but the content of it is worth its weight in gold.  This is what I found when I walked into my classroom this morning.  Not so impressive, you say.  But, what it represents is the hard work of some community minded seniors (Lane, Bea, Rachel, Cooper, Olivia, and Mahogany) who are spending their afternoons teaching English to non-English speakers from around the valley.  They’re wrestling with the complexities of English grammar and working to communicate them in an effective and entertaining manner to their students: so, in a nutshell, they’re teaching!  I am available to help them if they need it; but, in essence they are in charge of their own classrooms, and they’re taking their responsibilities very seriously.  Who knows, maybe one of them will come back to Thacher to hone their craft some day. It wouldn’t surprise me.
