Old Memories & New Friends

As juniors, we often forget how many underclassmen, faculty, and fellow classmates we do not know on a personal level.  To start off another great year, I went camping with an unforgettable group of people in the John Muir wilderness.  My faculty advisor, Mr. Sawyer, was the group leader, along with Mr. Jensen, a new addition to the faculty this year.  The students on the trip all shared different interests, hobbies and passions.  We were a self proclaimed “random” group of people.  Although we were nervous at our camping meeting the day before departing, it became clear we were going to have a great trip when we piled into the suburbans at six in the morning the next day.  Although camping is an old memory now, the friendships our group created will last throughout our time at Thacher.  This camping trip was the best outdoor experience I have had at Thacher.  I enjoyed every moment, from the off key singing to the late night stargazing and the twelve mile days.  In addition to fond memories, I walk the Thacher campus knowing I have twelve new friends.
