Back in the saddle…

After a well-deserved two week respite from the hustle and bustle that characterizes Thacher life, we have jumped in to Spring Trimester with gusto.  One of the big things on my plate, planning Thacher’s first ever Community Service Day with the student CommServe Heads — Nu, Gracie, and JinAh.  We’re working hard to provide a variety of activities for students and faculty to participate in on Saturday, April 13th.  The current line-up includes working in an local organic garden, pitching in to assist the Maintenance crew with some on-campus painting projects, providing manicures and pedicures for the residents of a local retirement home, joining the “trail crew boys” clearing trail, coaching and cheering on the Ventura Special Olympics Track and Field team, and working with the Ventura Food Share (a local site that distributes donated food to local homeless). The deadline for getting sign-ups is creeping up soon; so, the girls and I are making an effort to confirm with all the venues. Nu, Gracie, and JinAh have been wonderful — thoughtfully planning and following through on ideas and suggestions. Should be a fantastic day.
