Fall wrap up

Wow! I can’t believe that fall is almost over!! Looking back, I wonder exactly what I was doing.

FIrst, the cross country team had its last league meet several weeks back at Cate School. As expected, we won the league, and I got a personal record of 20:10. I actually ran that race faster than I did at Midland, a far flatter and cooler course. We had the season wrap up in the Hill’s common room, and elected our new captain Simon Novich for next year. I thought this was a great year for me, even though I didn’t manage to break 20 minutes. I have no regrets.

On the other hand, the work load has really picked up with the end of the term approaching. I’ve had tests and quizzes, and had to do a two part project in US History all at the same time. It was really cool, however, to see what we’ve learned in that class really apply in the presidential election. As a class, we watched some of the election at our teacher, Mr. Carney’s house. Fun times.

Also, I got my independent project approved!! For those of you who don’t know what an independent is, it is basically an alternate to one of the team sports offered during a season that you have to apply for and demonstrate real commitment to. My independent is on trail building and mountain biking. You can read all about it here (Clickit!!)

I’ve also joined the Jazz band, relaunching myself into the arts program here at Thacher. I’ve never played in a band before, and this is definitely a cool experience. Time to put those guitar skills to the test!!!

And that’s pretty much it. I’ll see you all in the winter!
