Hitting the Books

Academics at Thacher are most definitely a challenge. For me, the jump from 8th grade to 9th grade was a pretty large one. And while one would think that the more difficult the class is, the less enjoyable it is, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth! The obstacles you have to face really make the class a better learning experience, and it’s more fun! My favorite class has to be English with Mrs. Sohn. I love how open our class discussions are- Everyone’s opinions are expressed. Mrs. Sohn has already made me a more aware and focused English student. Right now we are reading The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. It’s a great book! For past assigned reading, I just read it and forgot about it. Who wants to remember a book they didn’t enjoy? In class however, I love how we read the chapter and analyze as much as we can to really understand the book. It’s a really great class. My other subjects, such as Math and Physics, are a bit harder. But my teachers are always available for help if I need them. As long as you make the effort to communicate with your teachers, there is no reason why you can’t succeed at Thacher.
