Senior Reflections

As the first week of classes comes to an end and the weekend begins, I can’t believe it’s only been five days that I’ve spent back in those small, round table discussions. By Tuesday it seemed like weeks had gone by since school had begun. I am always astounded by how fast things get going at Thacher. I remember my freshmen year after my first week of classes, calling my parents and having a thousand things I wanted to tell them about. I remember my mom asking if I missed her and all I could say was, “I don’t know, I didn’t have time.” I didn’t have time to be homesick, my schedule was so clearly planned out for me that I had barely thought about my family or my life away from Thacher. Now as my senior year begins I can’t believe this is my last, first week of classes at the Thacher school. I can’t put into words everything I have learned since the first day I stepped foot in old Casa de Piedra as a new tadpole. As busy as my schedule seems and even though I might think I don’t have time to miss home, that doesn’t mean I don’t have time to relax and have some fun. I am excited to continue my Thacher career and although every beautiful pink moment over the Ojai valley equals one less day at Thacher, I will still take a moment to look out on the horizon and appreciate all the opportunities this place has to offer.
