It’s the Start of…Senior Year.

How am I already a senior? This is insane, but amazing at the same time. I am super excited to start my final year at Thacher and to enjoy all the amazing perks and responsibilities that come with it. Some perks of being a senior include (but of course are not limited to): wandering, no breakfast check-in, and being leaders of club and activities. Wandering has been amazing so far, because it gives my class the chance to be out around campus after check-in and spend more time with each other. We have already had some senior bonding activities such as a BBQ, a dance, and  relaxing time by a fire pit. I think that this extra time given to us will make it easier for our class to bond and keep our support systems, because we are usually spread out across campus at every other time. No breakfast check-in is nice, because it gives us the chance to sleep in if we want and not to rush our mornings when we might be running a little late.

Leadership positions are also spread out through the whole class. The school likes to make sure that every senior can have a leadership position to help make a positive influence on the rest of the student body. I have three leadership roles this year: Prefect in the Junior girls’ dorm, Co-Head of The Literary Society, and a leader in the HR&S program. I love being a prefect, because it’s nice to get to know this class below me a little more, and make myself a role model to them. It’s nice to live in a dorm composed of so many different people than there were my past three years. As for Literary Society, I am working with a junior girl to make this club even livelier than the other years. We hope to inspire and encourage many students to keep writing poetry and prose outside of a class environment. HR&S  is working to inform all grades of how to keep up with the Thacher way of life, and how to prepare for life challenges in the future.

I can’t wait to see how all three of these jobs expand throughout the year!!
