The Holiday

For Thacher students, the time between winter and spring break can seem to go on forever, while some view this as a horrible affair, the majority of the school views this as the perfect opportunity to enjoy the time we have at Thacher. However, the lull can become a heavy burden for any student to bear, and thus, when a holiday is announced by a faculty member or guest, it is a momentous occasion, celebrated by all, and enjoyed most by the nefarious Indoor committee, who quickly put together a dance in the commons. When it comes to a middle of the week dance, no one can top a Thacher holiday dance party. All the pressures of the lull and it’s eight weeks of straight school melt away as we prepare to exhaust ourselves so we can better be ready for the sleeping in we will “have” to do the following day. In fact it’s not uncommon to not see anyone as late as 1pm, simply due to the fact that everyone is sleeping in. A holiday is one of Thacher’s most magical moments, because, while you are happy that you have school off for a day, the community as a whole is much more happy to be able to come together and relax some.
