Flowers, Fireworks, Signs, and Serenades.

This past weekend we had a Winter Formal dance here on the Thacher campus. It was an assigned date dance, which means every boy was given the name of the girl he had to bring to the dance. Usually, the boy would show up on the night of the dance and escort his date to the location, but this time it was different. Every boy had to formally ask his date in public to the dance sometime in the week before. There ended up being so many creative proposals to the girls of the school. Among the many, there were serenades by a single boy or group, signs posted in public areas (such as the dining hall or commons), boys on horseback, and one where small ground fireworks were set off on the pergola. Most of these included roses given to the girls. This past week was so full of surprises, and overall was so much fun to see the different ideas that the boys came up with. I think it overall was a great idea on the part of our Indoor Committee.
