Picking up Lacrosse

My Teammates

This spring I’m playing lacrosse for the first time! It sort of feels like a combination of soccer (on a grass field) and tennis (sticks). Because I’m used to sports that are played in a smaller setting such as basketball or tennis, it’s been a challenge to adapt to lacrosse. For example, I have to spread myself on a larger field, wear a mouthguard and goggles, remember how to play a certain position, cradle and check, etc. Nonetheless, lacrosse –just like other sports—requires some athleticism (making cuts), good communication (marking players on attack), and teamwork (double team). I feel that the team has made good progress in the past two weeks of practice and if we continue to work diligently we’ll be in great shape for our games in the future.
