LA for the Day (and night)

These past few days have been chock full of entertainment and culture. On Friday, Stephen Nasser, author of My Brother’s Voice and a Holocaust survivor came to speak to us. His moving talk and story was both touching and informative. His positive message inspires me and his outlook on life is model-worthy. His lecture was part of Cultural Weekend, in which we could all pick a certain event, some off campus, to go to with other students and a teacher or faculty, who organized the trip. I, along with 6 others, went to Los Angeles to see the play 33 Variations about a woman’s life, which parallels Beethoven as he wrote the 33 Variations of Anton Diabelli’s waltz.
The play was phenomenal and afterward we went to Little Tokyo. If not for Cultural Weekend, I never would have the opportunity to experience a play and see Los Angeles. I also got to know other kids from different grades much better. Singing songs in the car, which is made all the more fun when surrounded by the large majority of a cappella singers, and roaming cobblestone streets together looking into little stores is one of the best ways to meet knew people. Giggles bubbling out of me all the way back to Thacher, we were back to campus too soon. Within two days I had learned more, seen more, and done more than I had ever anticipated.
Here are some images from all the Cultural Weekend Activities:
