Music Under the Stars

The Toad Music Festival on Saturday was a huge success, spanning from four to nine o’clock at night! The Centennial Amphitheater was filled with cuddling Toads with blankets, almost-frenzied photo parents, and the Thacher community at large, who were eagerly cheering on the participants. The acts ranged from all-family music ensembles to solo songs to live jam sessions.

I participated in two duets, one with my friend Alex and another with Mr. Mulligan, the Head of School here at Thach. Alex and I performed a song we had learned only a couple days before, which was incredibly nerve inducing beforehand but the end result was a success! Mr. Mully and I sang two Beatles songs, I’ve Just Seen a Face and You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away.

Mr. Mulligan and I have been talking about performing together since way back at the first coffee house. We both adore the Beatles and we thought it would be tons of fun to sing their songs. Mr. Mulligan and I finally got our act together and started practicing for the music festival. We worked really hard to create harmonies that fit our voices and to learn the lyrics. I had a blast performing with him! The Thacher community also made the experience especially meaningful because at the end of the songs, the whole crowd chimed in and sang along with us!
