Working it out w/ my Dad

This past weekend was Family Weekend, and my dad was able to join me in half of the mini-classes that we had on Saturday morning. In Mr. Pidduck’s mini-class, after giving our parents the “what this class is about” talk, he had us dive right in to an activity that we were to do with our parents. I had never done any collaboration work with my father before, so I was excited. Of course, he was very reluctant at first: “Son, why don’t you do it, and I’ll make the necessary critiques at the very end.” Despite his resistance, I forced him to help me and we began to work. About 5 minutes later, Mr. Pidduck asked another family to put their answers on the board. As the family began to write and explain, we noticed that ours was completely different from theirs but we had confidence in ourselves. However, my dad and I could not have been more wrong. If it were a test, we would have gotten a big F. But I was still really happy that I got to work with my dad on a school activity like that, no matter how wrong we were.
