This August, I started my new position as College Preparation Coach with a nonprofit in St. Louis. It’s called College Bound and it’s an AmeriCorps program. Briefly, I’ll be assisting high school junior and seniors through the college process, making sure that they are prepared to take the ACT, finalize college lists and complete applications. Once admitted, we’ll review with students and parents to fill out FAFSA applications and how to read financial aid award letters. I have a co-coach from Kansas who is great and together we will be working with 45 students. I have a new found appreciation for all of the hard work that Mrs. Morales-Kent and Mrs. Meyer put into each class, ensuring that each student attends the best fit school.

In May, I received my Master’s of Public Policy Administration from University of Missouri-St. Louis and once this service year is over with College Bound, I plan to take the next step towards becoming a certified teacher, specifically math (shout-out to Wales and Hancock!). It’s been a year of development for me, finishing school, starting a new job, getting baptized, but I think I will be able to handle it all very well.

Can’t wait until the next reunion so I can see Billy Irwin’s (CdeP 2006) new baby, but by then the baby will be four and talking! Can you believe that we’re adults now?!
