Hi! My name is Fidel and I am a Senior from Santa Ana, California.

I first heard about Thacher through the A Better Chance program, which helps talented students from certain public schools in the country get into private schools in order to get a better education. I felt like this kind of opportunity comes once in a lifetime so I decided to apply and ultimately was accepted to Thacher.

What I like best about living and studying at Thacher With about 240 students, the Thacher boarding school experience is unlike anything I have experienced elsewhere and I enjoy every aspect of it, especially the strong and inclusive community that is the trademark of the school.

My favorite class at the moment is AP Computer Science with Mr. Meyer. Computers, and how they work, have always been an interest of mine and to find out how to develop and run a program is truly out of this world. There is always something new to learn with computer science.

People at Thacher- peers, faculty, staff and others – who have influenced me positively and how A teacher that has influenced me greatly is Mr. Coleman. A great soccer coach, an engaging math teacher, and now my academic advisor, he has really influenced my Thacher experience for the better and I  truly appreciate his help and expert advice.

A piece of advice I would tell prospective students thinking about coming to Thacher  to come for a tour. At first, the idea of going to a boarding school was overwhelming for me, but as soon as I went for a tour of the school any doubt about going to boarding school immediately disappeared.
