Times Are A-changin’

It’s so hard to believe that I’ll be out of school in a month!  The past few weeks have been great, but also busy.  The junior class has been preoccupied with studying for SAT subject tests & AP’s, applying and interviewing for senior leadership positions, and mentally preparing ourselves for the college application process.  As I more »

St. Joe’s

Community service opportunities at Thacher are countless.  You can help clean up Ojai’s creeks on a Saturday morning, tutor kids during the day, take part in Habitat for Humanity projects, help out with trail work on Sundays, and/or visit elderly homes on weeknights.  Last fall, I started going to St. Joe’s, an elderly home in more »

Where Did the Winter Go?

I can’t believe it’s mid-February already! The winter trimester has flown by the fastest by far.  In fact, it didn’t really feel like winter at all.  Being a California native, I couldn’t complain about the lack of rain this year and I never really felt the cold of winter (although that’s probably not a good more »

Back in Action

Back in Action

First and foremost, Happy New Year!   It’s been a few days since we’ve returned from break but have already adjusted ourselves back to the fast-paced and busy life at Thacher.  We picked up classes last Thursday and then welcomed over 200 Thacher alums back to campus over the weekend.  I was overjoyed to see more »

Student Diversity Leadership Conference

Student Diversity Leadership Conference

Earlier in December the heads of the United Cultures of Thacher Club had the privilege of  attending the Student Diversity Leadership Conference in the city of brotherly love and sisterly affection: Philadelphia!  It was my second time attending but my experience nonetheless possessed the same intensity as the first time.  It was both humbling and more »

Cheers!

It’s the last night here in the dorm for 2011!  A few friends and I threw a small party for Amy after check-in and it was a very joyous event.   It’s definitely these smaller intimate events that make the Thacher experience that much more special.  We toasted to Amy’s 17th birthday as well as more »

It’s the journey, not the destination

It’s more than half way through the fall trimester and I finally feel I’ve adapted to the junior work load.  It took me a while to find the balance between doing work and still having fun.  I’ve found that with disciplining myself to complete a few subjects of homework when granted the time out of more »

Off to a Good Start

Junior year has been great. I’m taking classes that I am interested in such as Photography and English Literature. After school, I’m harnessing my forehand daily in JV tennis. This year I am living in Middle School–which is only steps from the the dining hall, classes, health center, and vending machine (what more can you more »

Bitter/Sweet

As we’re approaching closer and closer to the end of the year, I’m realizing that I’ll have to say goodbye to another class. We have about three more weeks and then we’re officially done with school. I guess endings at Thacher are always a little bittersweet. Excited for the summer, excited for a break. Yet more »

Oranges, Clay

After Friday’s lacrosse practice, my friend Ana and I headed to the groves to pick some oranges. Aside from the weather, one of my favorite things about spring at Thacher are the oranges. We found a tree that had the fewest bees, although the oranges were pretty high up. We used our lacrosse sticks to more »
