My Thacher Bucket List

As my Thacher graduation date is ever looming closer, I can’t help but begin to form a bucket list of things I want to do before I  leave. And in terms of my senior year, I think I’ve already done a pretty good job. This year I have sung in a coffee-house, written for the more »

Working away…

This week the Seniors have big deadline for our Senior Exhibition coming up. The Senior Exhibition is a year long research project on any subject of our choice. My chosen topic is Industrial Farming and the Loss of Heritage Breeds, and I couldn’t be happier. Every time I read about my topic or do a more »

Artistic Decompression

With a few free hours, what in the world was I to do with myself? Everyone more »

A Dose of Home (cooking)

Although the dining hall’s ice cream machine, salad bar, and deserts are quite a treat, a little bit of good old home cooking goes a long way. Whether it is the after school brownies made in the common room kitchen, Ms. Mully’s chocolate chip cookies at Open House, or my advisor’s burritos, homemade anything is, more »

What would you fight for?

This week in U.S. History we took a bit of a different approach to the Civil War. Instead of the typical read-discuss-and-analyze approach, we instead watched a movie (Glory) and completed a written assignment. This historically accurate action movie gave us a direct perspective into the 54th regiment and an idea of what warfare was like more »

Noting the Beauty

I can’t believe it.  What?  Look around you!  I see shrubs.  You have got to be kidding me! There is a common, unknown disease that many Thacher students often succumb to. I like to call it the I-always-forget-and-fail-to-notice-how-beautiful-this-valley-is disease. I, like many of my peers, have recently encountered this problem. Luckily, all it took was more »

Hailey ’12 Family

All in the Family

Are you ready to handle the academics? Are you ready to become a horse person? Are you able to be an honorable student? These questions are the typical ones in an application to Thacher, but the un-asked question really is: Are you ready to be part of the biggest family ever? Thacher is, in all honesty, more »
