1000 Cranes Project

Dhondup Wangchen, a Tibetan film-maker, was arrested in March 2008. His film series of interviews with Tibetans on their opinions of the Beijing Olympics and Chinese occupation led to his sentence of 6 years in a labour camp, known for its harsh conditions.

We’re making origami cranes to support for Wangchen. Legend says that if you fold 1000 origami cranes, your wish will be granted. Since World War II, origami cranes symbolized peace. This activity is for our wish for the release of Wangchen, who peacefully expressed his and others’ opinions.
