According to G. K. Chesterton, in his book Heretics, strong men are alone and worried while weak men depend on others and have hope. My father, like TR, was sent West to become stronger, as was my asthmatic brother Ty (CdeP ’39) and my troubled second brother Larry (CdeP ’42). They told my parents that I should go too: I did and made my first friend, Tom Simons (’46). I also came back East stronger. Thank you, Thacher!
