The non profit peace project John founded, CHALK4PEACE, presented its interactive chalk painting event at the United Nations on the UN Visitors’ Plaza in NYC for their Student Peace Day Summit 9/16/16. Peace Day 365 was their liaison to the UN. Team CHALK4PEACE came in from California and Washington, DC, to organize, encourage and document the event, which drew more than 1,500 attendees of the Summit together to share their messages and visions of peace. Peace was written in more than 70 languages; and while most of the artists were quite well dressed, that didn’t stop them from getting down and dusty in the name of peace. Thacher has participated in CHALK4PEACE to honor Dr. MLK, Jr. Day for the past six years. This is the project’s eleventh year.
