My wife Sherryl and I had a great honeymoon year with me working for Iowa State University’s Midwest Grape & Wine Industry Institute, but just recently I have started my newest position as Enology Specialist at the University of Minnesota’s Horticulture Research Center in Excelsior, MN. I will be “micro-vinifying” tiny batches of newly developed cold-hearty hybrid wine grapes that are becoming quite popular in the nascent Midwest wine industry. Along with research wine making, I will be serving the Minnesota wine industry in an extension and outreach capacity. Who knew I would enjoy being “back in school” again?!
