Michael Voevodsky ’82

Therese and I returned to Grand Rapids, Michigan, and now live in the historic district downtown (not related to our getting older). Our oldest daughter, Paule (CdeP 2012), is studying engineering abroad this semester is Seville, Spain. Mia (CdeP 2014) started architecture at University of Michigan and is going through withdrawals from Southern California weather – but surviving. This past Winter I reconnected via phone with Doug Francis (it’s been too long but he’s the same great guy); spent Thanksgiving with Hunter Hollins and his lovely family in Arlington VA (published author of Forgotten hardware: how to urinate in a spacesuit); and just last week, finally got together with Tom Saidy in DC (silver haired now), and barely survived the evening. I understand Tom is getting together with Francis and Brian Kopperl in the next few weeks; look out! Since coming back to the mid-west, I’ve also gotten together with Jon Twichell ’83 (Sophie Brown Twichell’s ’85 and Jon’s son started Thacher just as we left); and of all people, I ran into Peter Conkey ’79 – our beloved freshman prefect – at a Thacher gathering last fall at a Chicago Cubs game. So, things are happening in the mid-west! The house is always open; please let us know if you are in Grand Rapids – we’d love to see you.
