With two friends from Rome (and a local guide), I just completed a rare 200 mile monsoon trek in the Himalayas. In fact, it seems we were among the first ever to visit the remote and restricted Tsum Valley region during the rainy season. Getting through fifty air miles of, hot, jungle canyon was challenging, of course. But the reward was sharing the high country (including the 17,000 foot pass behind Manaslu) with only the fascinating Tibetan people of the area.
